Belong & Beloved
At Belong & Beloved, we focus on the goal of Home Ownership to help break the cycle of Generational Poverty.
What is Generational Poverty?
Generational Poverty is defined as a family where at least two generations have been born into poverty. People trapped in generational poverty often lack the education, resources, and hope to escape it on their own. Housing plays a critical role in providing stability to poor families. When families lack it, there are terrible consequences.
What Do We Do?
Home Ownership is seen as an essential tool to break the cycle of Generational Poverty. To achieve this and become self sufficient, we work with community partners to help families break the cycle. Some things families may need include: stable housing, financial coaching, mentorship, education assistance, job assistance, life skills training, and parenting development.
Stable Housing Affects Everything
It is critical for the physical, social and emotional development of children. Children living in poverty are at a higher risk of mental health problems, developmental delays, and poor cognitive outcomes. They also face a higher risk of trauma, hunger, sickness, and joblessness. Kids who live in poverty are more likely to face rough home situations which can worsen other issues.
